    A THOUGHT EXPERIMENT

    Imagine the boss had to
    learn this from scratch.

    Imagine the boss was a robot who knew nothing yet about human biology. You would have to go and explain why toilet paper belongs at work.

    Four panels. A carpenter asks for toilet paper. A boss outside the frame asks which fault it is meant to fix. The carpenter says he just needs the toilet, and asks whether they should start the explanation with wee or poo.

    Fortunately you will probably never need this meeting. Toilet paper is already a given. You take it for granted that someone makes sure it is there.

    Read the dialogue

    “I need toilet paper.”
    “Which fault is it meant to fix?”
    “None. I just need the toilet.”
    “Shall we start with wee or poo?”
